How do Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium work together? In an American context Scripture is like the Constitution, Tradition is like the writings of the Founding Fathers (Federalist Papers) which explains the Constitution, and the Magisterium is like the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court interprets the Constitution in light of the Federalist Papers, so too the Magisterium interprets the Bible in light of Tradition (the writings of the Church Fathers).
